The most versatile sealing product in the range

Bitumen aluminium tape – self-adhesive, in 7 colours and 8 widths

Bitumen aluminium tape is the most-purchased product in the entire shop – because it can be used for so many tasks around the home. Joints in guttering, cracks in roofing felt, connections at walls and window sills, sheet metal joints, glass roofs, pipe penetrations: the self-adhesive aluminium sealing tape seals quickly, permanently and without tools. The two most important decisions: the right width and the matching colour.

Choosing the right width

Which width for which task?

WidthTypical applicationPrice from
50 mm ★ Narrow joints, cracks, gutter seams, sheet metal joints EUR 0.72/m (EUR 7.20 / 10m)
75 mm ★ Medium joints, connections, roofing felt overlaps EUR 0.89/m (EUR 8.90 / 10m)
100 mm ★★ Roof-to-wall connections, window sills, wide transitions EUR 1.08/m (EUR 10.80 / 10m)
150 mm Wider connections, roof/wall transitions, chimneys On request
200 mm Valley connections, dormers, wide wall transitions On request
250 / 300 mm Large-area transitions, eaves connections, parapets On request
500 mm Membrane-to-wall connections, chimneys, large areas EUR 4.99/m (EUR 49.90 / 10m)

★ Bestsellers | ★★ Bestseller #1 in this category. Tiered pricing on 50 mm and 75 mm from 6 rolls.

Width rule of thumb: The tape should overlap at least 3–5 cm on both sides of the joint or crack. For a 4 cm joint, use at least 100 mm width. When in doubt, choose the wider tape – more adhesive surface = more reliable seal.

Choosing the right colour

7 colours – for visually coordinated sealing

Silver & Black

Neutral and universal

Silver (aluminium) and black are the most popular colours. Silver suits metal construction and sheet metal roofs. Black harmonises with black roofing felt and dark structures.

Copper & Lead grey

Classic & distinguished

Copper for copper gutters, copper roofs and historic buildings. Lead grey for roof dormers, chimneys and connections where a classically understated tone is desired.

Brown, Terracotta & Red

For coloured roofs & façades

Brown for timber construction and brown roof tiles. Terracotta/brick red for red roof tiles and clinker. Red for red sheet metal roofs and red façade elements.

Applicable everywhere – the most important uses

Roof, guttering, sheet metal, window sill and more

Bitumen aluminium tape can be used on almost all smooth exterior surfaces: bitumen roofing felt, metal, steel, aluminium, copper, concrete, glass roofs, greenhouses, timber and wood-based panels. Whether rain gets through a crack over winter, a gutter seam leaks, a chimney connection is no longer watertight or water penetrates under a window sill – bitumen aluminium tape is fitted in minutes and immediately watertight.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions about bitumen aluminium tape

Which substrates does bitumen aluminium tape bond to?

Bitumen roofing felt, metal, steel, aluminium, copper, concrete, plaster, timber, timber-based panels, glass and GRP. The substrate should be clean, dry and grease-free. On very rough substrates, improve adhesion by pressing firmly or apply bitumen primer.

Which width do I need for my chimney connection?

This depends on the connection geometry. For chimney-to-roofing felt connections, 150–300 mm is typical – the tape must have at least 5 cm of contact on both sides. For wide chimney cross-sections, 300 mm or 500 mm tape is recommended.

Can I stick bitumen aluminium tape to a damp substrate?

For emergency sealing in damp conditions this is possible to a limited extent – adhesion on damp substrates is reduced. For a permanent bond the substrate must be dried. In wet emergency sealing, press the tape firmly and allow to dry before water stands on it.

Are there tiered prices?

Yes. For 50 mm tape: from 6 rolls EUR 7.10, from 18 rolls EUR 7.00, from 35 rolls EUR 6.90 per roll. For 75 mm tape: from 4 rolls EUR 8.80, up to from 21 rolls EUR 8.50. For larger quantities the tiered pricing is worthwhile.

What is the difference between bitumen aluminium tape and normal adhesive tape?

Bitumen aluminium tape has a bitumen adhesive layer (not acrylic or rubber adhesive) and an aluminium surface. Bitumen is permanently weather-resistant, UV-stable and watertight – normal tape degrades quickly under weathering. Always use bitumen aluminium tape for outdoor applications and permanent sealing.

Can the tape be painted over or plastered?

Paintable with a suitable primer. Plastering is more difficult – the tape is elastic and plaster is not, so cracking in the plaster at this point is possible.
