Adhesive Tape and Glue
The right product for every situation
Tape or adhesive – which do I use when?
There are two fundamental tools for airtight connections: adhesive tapes for overlaps and flat connections on even substrates, and connection adhesives for connections to existing structures, rough surfaces and critical detail points. Both complement each other – and both must be matched to the vapour barrier and the substrate.
Adhesive tapes
For overlapping vapour barrier membranes and smooth connections to wood, OSB and film. Targo RAPID tear-able by hand; Tescon Vana with fleece carrier for indoor and outdoor use.

What matters
Airtight bonding – avoid the 3 most common mistakes
Prepare the substrate
The substrate must be clean, dry and load-bearing. On absorbent substrates, primer acts as a bonding agent. Dirt and dust permanently reduce adhesion.
Bond within the system
Tape and adhesive must match the vapour barrier. Targo membranes with Targo adhesive technology, pro clima membranes with Tescon Vana or Orcon F – only then does the system guarantee apply.
Don't forget penetrations
Pipes, cables and rafters are the most common weak points. For curves and difficult geometries, Targo FLEX or the flexible Tescon Vana patch are the right choice.
From the practice of blow-in insulation
Adhesive technology we use ourselves every day
As a specialist contractor for blow-in insulation, we bond vapour barriers, seal blow-in openings and make airtight connections every day. We know the differences between products from hands-on experience – and which tape really holds permanently. This experience is reflected in our product selection.
Frequently asked questions
Frequently asked questions about bonding for airtightness
What is the difference between Tescon Vana and Targo RAPID?
Tescon Vana (pro clima) has a fleece carrier – making it particularly flexible, stretchable and suitable for indoor and outdoor use. Targo RAPID is a film tape that can be torn by hand and is used mainly for smooth overlaps of vapour barriers indoors. Both are high-quality acrylic adhesive tapes.
When should I use tape, and when connection adhesive?
Tapes are suitable for smooth, even substrates such as PE film, OSB and wood. Connection adhesives such as Orcon F or Folien-Fix are better for rough, absorbent or uneven substrates like concrete, plaster and masonry – as well as for permanently elastic connections.
What is the difference between Folien-Fix and Folien-Fix Ultra?
Folien-Fix is solvent-free, odour-neutral and ideal for indoor areas. Folien-Fix Ultra is solvent-based, waterproof and bonds on damp substrates even in cold temperatures – the right winter adhesive for construction sites below +5 °C.
What are the Tyvek® adhesive pads used for?
The waterproof, vapour-open Tyvek® adhesive pads are used to seal blow-in openings in vapour barriers, sub-roof membranes and OSB boards airtight. They are suitable for indoor and outdoor use and can also be used as repair patches.
Do I need primer for bonding?
On absorbent or difficult substrates, primer significantly improves the adhesion of tapes and sealants – especially on plaster, porous concrete and calcium silicate blocks, and for critical connections that must remain permanently airtight.
Does the tape have to match the vapour barrier?
Yes – absolutely. System manufacturers such as Targo and pro clima only provide a system guarantee for system-compatible bonding. Third-party tapes can detach over time or damage the membrane.
