Barrier tapes
Three product lines for three different tasks
Vapour check tapes – nail sealing, moisture-blocking or water-directing?
Vapour check and sealing tapes are specialist products for three clearly distinct tasks: sealing nail and screw penetrations (Tescon Naideck), blocking moisture at sill plates and connections in timber construction (Extoseal Finoc), and actively directing water away at window connections (Extoseal Encors). All three ranges from pro clima.
Tescon Naideck
Sealing compound flows into the hole when nailed – the penetration seals itself. Double-sided (5 cm / 7.5 cm) or single-sided (4.5 cm / patch). From EUR 0.89/m.
To Tescon Naideck → Timber construction connectionsExtoseal Finoc
Moisture-blocking sealing tape for sill plate sealing, wood-based panels to mineral substrates and bonding of sarking boards. In 10–30 cm widths. From EUR 2.22/m.
To Extoseal Finoc → Window connections ★Extoseal Encors
Water-directing sealing tape for window and door connections – actively directs driving rain water to the outside rather than just stopping it. In 10 cm and 15 cm. From EUR 4.00/m.
To Extoseal Encors →The most important difference explained
Moisture-blocking vs. water-directing – what does that mean?
Moisture-blocking – seals out
Extoseal Finoc forms a barrier against moisture. It prevents water and vapour from entering – ideal under sill plates and at connections where no water should be present. Butyl adhesive compound, permanently elastic.
Water-directing – leads away
Extoseal Encors is designed so that driving rain water that has entered is actively guided to the outside. It does not just seal – it gives water a controlled route out. This is the water-directing level principle.
Self-sealing through nail pressure
Tescon Naideck lies on the membrane before nailing. As the nail penetrates, the sealing compound flows into the hole and closes it – no subsequent sealing needed.

Specialist solutions for critical points
Where standard adhesive tapes are not enough
Vapour check and sealing tapes are used where ordinary airtightness tapes would be overwhelmed: under battens where thousands of nails penetrate the membrane, at timber sill plates on concrete where capillary moisture rises, and at exterior window connections where driving rain water must be actively directed away. For each of these cases there is the right product from the pro clima range.
Frequently asked questions
Frequently asked questions about vapour check and sealing tapes
What is the difference between Extoseal Finoc and Extoseal Encors?
Extoseal Finoc is moisture-blocking – it forms a barrier against moisture and is ideal for sill plate sealing and timber construction connections where no water should be present. Extoseal Encors is water-directing – it actively guides driving rain water that has entered outwards. Both are used externally but have fundamentally different tasks.
What is a water-directing tape and when do I need it?
A water-directing tape such as Extoseal Encors creates a level on which water that has entered can flow in a controlled manner to the outside. It is used at the lower window or door connection outside so that driving rain that penetrates despite sealing is safely directed away – and does not reach the construction.
What is Tescon Naideck and when is it installed?
Tescon Naideck is a nail sealing tape made of self-adhesive sealing compound. It is stuck onto the sub-roof or façade membrane before the counter-battens are nailed. As the nail penetrates, the sealing compound flows into the hole and seals the penetration itself – no additional sealing afterwards.
When do I use double-sided Naideck and when single-sided (mono)?
Double-sided: bonds to both membrane and batten, holds the batten in position. Single-sided Naidec mono: bonds only to the membrane – seals nail holes just as reliably without fixing the batten.
Which widths are available for Extoseal Finoc?
Extoseal Finoc is available in four widths: 10 cm, 15 cm, 20 cm and 30 cm, each as a 20 m roll. The width depends on the surface to be bridged – for example the sill plate width or the transition zone between wood-based panel and mineral substrate.
Can vapour check tapes also be used indoors?
Extoseal Finoc and Encors are suitable for indoor and outdoor use. Tescon Naideck is typically installed under the exterior counter-battens and is permanently protected by the overlying battens.
