Connection tapes permanently and airtightly connect windows, doors and membranes to adjacent building components. Inside and outside have fundamentally different requirements: inside the connection must be airtight and vapour-retarding, outside it must be windtight and driving-rain resistant. The tapes for each are not interchangeable.

Where are connection tapes used?
Window and door connections
The classic application – inside airtight (Contega SL / Solido SL), outside windtight (Contega EXO / Solido Exo). Both sides need the right tape for their requirement.
Plaster connections
Contega PV connects membranes and wood-based panels to components that are to be plastered – masonry and concrete – for the defined transition between membrane and plaster surface.

What is the difference between Contega SL and Contega EXO?
Contega SL is for the interior, room-side window connection – airtight and vapour-retarding. Contega EXO is for the exterior window connection – windtight and driving-rain resistant. Both have three adhesive strips and are available in 85 mm and 120 mm widths. They complement each other and are frequently used together: EXO outside, SL inside.
What is the difference between Contega SL and Contega Solido SL?
Contega SL has three separate adhesive strips – the tape adapts flexibly to the substrate. Contega Solido SL is fully adhesive – the entire tape surface bonds to the substrate. Solido is particularly suitable for smooth, even substrates and where maximum adhesive surface is desired.

Contega IQ is an intelligent tape for indoor and outdoor use – the fleece side is overplasterable and creates a clean, defined transition between window frame and plaster surface. Ideal when the connection needs to blend neatly into the plaster.
What is Contega PV for?
Contega PV (20 cm wide) is not a window tape but a plaster connection tape – for connecting membranes or wood-based panels to building components that are to be plastered, such as masonry or concrete. The wide format bridges the transition zone and is plastered over.
Do I need to seal both sides of a window?
Yes, for a complete code-compliant seal both sides are needed – the exterior connection prevents wind and driving rain from entering, while the interior connection ensures airtightness and prevents moisture transport into the construction.
Which width – 85 mm or 120 mm?
The width depends on the depth of the connection zone. 85 mm is sufficient for normal window reveals. 120 mm gives more coverage for deep reveals, timber-frame constructions or where more overlap on both sides is needed.
