System rule: Tescon Sprimer and Tescon Primer RP are developed for pro clima tapes. Targo PRIMER M is part of the Targo system and is optimised for acrylic and butyl tapes. Always prime within the system – Targo tapes with Targo primer, pro clima tapes with Tescon primer.

The underestimated step

Pressing tape correctly – why Pressfix makes sense

1

Even pressure across the width

Tape holds only as well as it has been pressed. Uneven finger pressure creates variably bonded tape – the soft plastic of Pressfix presses evenly across the full width of the tape.

2

No bubbles, no folds

The soft plastic adapts to unevenness and pushes air out. The result is a clean, bubble-free bond with no potential leak points.

3

EUR 0.80 – the most economical quality factor

Pressfix costs 80 cents and is the cheapest way to measurably improve the quality of every bond. For an airtightness project that needs to pass a blower-door test, it is indispensable.

When primer is really needed

No primer on smooth timber – always on calcium silicate

The rule of thumb: the more absorbent, rougher or dustier the substrate, the more important primer is. On clean timber, OSB and PE film, primer is generally not required. On calcium silicate blocks, aerated concrete, wood fibre boards or old mineral surfaces it is decisive – a bond without primer on such substrates rarely holds in the long term. When in doubt: primer costs little and saves a great deal in the event of damage.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions about primer and accessories

What is the difference between Tescon Sprimer and Tescon Primer RP?

Tescon Sprimer is a sprayable primer with a short drying time – after spraying, wait briefly then apply the tape. Tescon Primer RP is solvent-free with no drying time – tape can be applied immediately after the primer. Primer RP is ideal when no waiting time is possible on site.

Do I always need primer with adhesive tapes?

No. On clean, smooth substrates such as timber, OSB and PE film, primer is generally not required. On absorbent, porous or dusty surfaces such as calcium silicate blocks, aerated concrete or wood fibre boards it significantly improves adhesion – always prime here.

Can I use Tescon Sprimer with Targo tapes?

No. Tescon Sprimer and Primer RP are developed for pro clima tapes. For Targo tapes (RAPID, ULTRA, FLEX), Targo PRIMER M is the system-compatible solution. The system guarantee only applies with the matching primer.

What is Pressfix and how is it used?

Pressfix is a small pressing aid made of soft plastic for EUR 0.80. After applying the tape, Pressfix is drawn across the tape with even pressure – the entire adhesive surface is pressed uniformly with no bubbles or weak spots.

For which substrates is primer particularly important?

Calcium silicate blocks, aerated concrete, lightweight concrete, wood fibre boards, mineral plaster surfaces and old concrete. On these absorbent or rough substrates, tape without primer is drawn into the surface and loses adhesion. Primer seals the pores and creates an even bonding surface.

What is the brush bottle for?

The brush bottle (500 ml) is a specialist tool for the WELDANO TURGA welding compound used for welding SOLITEX WELDANO membranes together. It allows one-handed working and even application of the welding compound along the seam.
